| Description of the project |
On September 7, 2013, the Omnia Sunt Communia collective occupied the former Piaggio Workshops, abandoned for years and made a dump by neglect, to make it a mutual aid space. The conditions of the workshop were disarming, but after a year of volunteer work and more than 15,000€ spent to clean, fix, renovate and upgrade the place, with numerous masonry, plumbing and electrical works, now the Ex Officine Piaggio are habitable and have been hosting mutual aid activities, the services Communia offers to the neighborhood and cultural, recreational, political and social initiatives for a while now.
Today it is a social place where the most diverse cultures mix in order to propose pedagogical and recreational activities for the San Lorenzo neighborhood. |

| Description of the project |
In 2007, a new business activity took shape in Ex Lanificio, and Lanificio 159 was born, as a space for clubbing. Then a restaurant opened.
In 2012, the Expo space, designed for temporary exhibitions and performances, opened, and Lanificio Officina’s artistic and cultural promotion activities were launched.Lanificio Officina is a creative lab where handcrafts and art find space, tools, and experience. This space is open for everyone with the objective of promoting the share of experience and competence with artists, and artisans.
Lanificio Officina is also an original furniture store that combines a passion for traditional craftsmanship with design culture. At Officina, you will find furniture for sale, consultations for fittings, and furniture solutions produced in-house that can be visited in the showroom space, which is open daily. The goal is to compare and exchange experiences and knowledge, within a space equipped with appropriate technologies (with work spaces, meeting rooms, exhibition-conference area). The organization of the premises is based on the articulation of an internal landscape counterpoint to the external one characterized by the presence of the Aniene River, where functional spaces alternate with winter gardens that also bring nature inside the built environment.
Pathways and spaces common to the different activities allow exchange between the parts, pandering to the idea of a Citadel of Art and Architecture |

| Description of the project |
Spartacus Community Center has always recognized itself as a place for independent production and enjoyment of culture. Every weekend we program events, live music, film and theater initiatives. On a territorial level, csoa Spartaco has been a promoter of the Cinecittà Bene Comune Network and passionately participates in citizen circles in defense of common goods and democracy through De-Liberiamo roma , Diritto alla Città and La Carovana delle Periferie di Roma. Over the years, the social center has always been committed to community building as a levee to the dominant culture based on domination and proprietary individualism, fostering processes of solidarity cooperation and emancipation through conflict and consciousness raising. Informing the where the dominant culture homogenizes and controls and organizing where it has been possible paths of liberation. |

| Description of the project |
In 2002, during the street parade of the generalised strike, 5000 students, precarious workers and migrants occupied an abandoned building in Tiburtina. The Strike SpA was born, an occupation that set itself the goal of transforming a private, abandoned space into a public space: private property into common property, self-managed. From the outset, we argued that the ‘problem’ raised by the occupation was not simply about the private owner demanding eviction, but about the city as a whole, its new urban planning and the distribution of resources for social and cultural policies. |

| Description of the project |
Cinema America, closed for bankruptcy since 1999, was completely abandoned and in ruins for years. In 2002 it was purchased to obtain twenty mini luxury apartments and a garage. But on November 13, 2012, when the Junta Alemanno is about to give the ok to the work, the occupation began. In the following eighteen months, volunteers have redone the roof, gutters, floors, electrical system. A library and a study room were created. Thanks to this support, the occupants pushed the Municipality and the Region to take a step forward: the candidacy of America as an asset of cultural interest. Lots of cultural events were happening there, for instance the San Cosimato arena, with outdoor screenings. Despite all this, the cinema was closed.
This collaborative community has created a form of management of the shared resource that is environmentally, economically, socially, and culturally sustainable to ensure its use by the entire community. |
