Joa Seo Medo started in the middle of the economic crisis that was affecting Portugal as a private initiative, it is a social business of entrepreneurs for entrepreneurs. The initial intention was to bring a group of small startups and complement each other sharing services.
The project made real and aspiring entrepreneurs dialoguing in a physical location that was changing (coworking spaces or private homes) providing mentorship activities to help individuals developing their entrepreneurial idea. Joa Seo Medo developed with the idea that entrepreneurship is a method, like a scientific method that can be studied, used and improved.
The company collaborated with the city administration and universities for several social and educational programs. |

| Description of the project |
Promoting the slogan “Think Global, Act Local”, Associaçao Locals is a non-profit organization which intends to conceive and organize local and participatory development actions. The process is based on three main principles: “Transforming (regeneration)” i.e. fostering sustainable development in all its aspects, “Knowledge (information)” i.e. promoting reciprocal learning based on a peer-to-peer approach and open source and sharing knowledge with other local/national/international groups and eventually “Participation (integration)” namely building up close and trust relationships, involving stakeholders in the participation processes so as to strengthen the contexts and places in which it intervenes.
The present analysis has been made under the lens of too main projects UPI: Diagnóstico participado and Diagnóstico territorial d’Ajuda. |

“In the litteral sense, AiREAS stands for AIR and AREAS. It’s a citizens initiative with the method to promote cooperation for our health and a healthy living environment. AiREAS is part of the City of Tomorrow vision, where “humans and our sustainable progress” are a central element, this is called sustainocracy.
Method means a core values (higher purpose) based collaboration between citizens, government, entrepreneurs and scientists.” (Website)
AiREAS developed the first unique intelligent measurement system (ILM) for measuring air pollution through co-creation between all participants of the POP. Each participant through the use of an app and a mobile device could see the status of the quality of the local air at any time in her/his direct vicinity. The measurements are not the end goal which instead is for each participant and for the population of Eindhoven as a whole to find and visualize the direct relationship between air quality and the health of the city. |

Following the elections in 2012, “The council aims were to encourage communities, partners and those using its services to become more involved in how these are planned, managed and delivered, with a particular focus on developing more co-operatives.”
“Edinburgh Labour’s draft manifesto is currently out for consultation not just to our own membership but Trade Unions and individuals and local organisations. We are also developing a people’s budget to go along with our manifesto. We are committed to the cooperative approach.
