Description of the project Big City Life is an urban museum project, which started on 8 January and ends on 27 February 2015, two months to transform an entire neighbourhood into a museum. Conceived and curated by Stefano S. Antonelli, with the consultancy of Gianluca Marziani, the project was financed 55% by 999Contemporary, 25% by Fondazione Roma, 20% by the Bando Roma Creativa 2015 and shared with ATER of the Municipality of Rome. The common aim was to transform the historic Roman borgata into a unique contemporary public art district, involving the local community, schools and neighbourhood associations in the process. Many other actors were involved as companies, organizations… More than 500 families living in the council houses of the historic Lot 1 of Tor Marancia, owned by the Municipality of Rome’s ATER, met and welcomed twenty-two artists, who came to Rome from ten countries around the world to paint the entire neighbourhood.

Their were creative workshops held by the artists for children, while the staff of 999Contemporary took care of the professional workshops for the young people of Tor Marancia to promote, maintain and enhance the artistic heritage, making Tor Marancia a true living public museum open to all seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day.

Description of the project MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome) – was born from the reorganization of the Capitoline structures deputed to the promotion of contemporary art.
It is setting itself the objective of creating a “Polo del contemporaneo” in the city of Rome, intended to be a place of cultural production that will foster dialogue between the most interesting organizations operating in the city and in Italy as a whole, as well as promoting interaction and the sharing of experiences with museums, research centres and universities etc. at an international level.

Description of the project The strategic objective of the Agenda Tevere project is to create “social empowerment” in order to implement projects that serve as examples and give confidence in the individual’s ability to “make a difference”.

Agenda Tevere intends to apply in the social field methods successfully tested in the commercial field by Venture Capital companies in order to generate “social and civic capital”. Unlike financial capital, ‘social and civic capital’ is not a private or individual asset but a specifically created asset to be made available and disseminated in the community to which one belongs.

Description Continuing the work of the Space Metropoliz artistic, cinema, and ethnographic project, MAAM arises in an occupied old factory as an open public space that welcomes new forms of artistic experimentation and social cooperation.

Art becomes a collective endeavour in this space, as artists are invited to contribute for free, interacting with the factory and the inhabitants of the neighborhood.

The Project puts forward a new model for artistic institutions, and contributed to create a new relationship linking artistic expression, politics and the city. Starting from its name, the “Museum of the Other and the Elsewhere” is indeed symbolically opposing the idea of art that shows through the work and the esthetic of the MAXXI and MACRO museums, using its peripheral position, its complete absence of funds and its proximity to the community as its strength.
