| Description of the project | The plan to achieve the energetic sovereignty (2016-2019) was launched by the Municipality of Barcelona to lead the process of transition to the city energetic sovereign, based on to increase local generation of electricity from renewable sources and to decreased the energy consumption. The most important action of this policy is to create a public company for energy supply (that buy energy from public and private renewable sources) and give the possibility to citizen to have power generation capacity in their own buildings (rooftops and roofs). The Municipal Government had approved the creation of Barcelona Energía, a public (municipal) energy company.They are studying different management models, where the administration and citizens feel challenged: through the creation of schematics and cooperative solutions, by renting spaces, etc., in order to double the power generation capacity municipal and increased 10% from the private power generation. Also, they want to adapt buildings to make them energetic sustainable. |
