Orçamento Participativo |

| Description |
Cape Verde has four pilot projects for participatory budgeting: Santa Cruz, S. Michael, Paul and Mosteiros.
The general goals of the project as listed on the website are the following:
- To train different local actors for the activities of design, management, monitoring and evaluation of Participatory Budgeting processes to be established;
- To develop a new type of local governance;
- To develop a new culture of democracy and participation for the population of Cape Verde;
- To give credibility to political action and develop educational processes that create citizenship;
- To promote a shared experience and network relations between the authorities that encourage participatory budgeting.
How it will work:
1) Information sharing activities about the participatory budgeting: concept , history , methodologies ,designing templates , regulations , participatory cycles , etc.
2) Consultancy to authorities in the form of individualized support to municipalities with BP processes underway or for those interested in implementing new experiences . This advice takes into consideration aspects such as design, management , monitoring and evaluation of experiences .
3) Construction of a website which should contain a directory of BP experiences in Cape Verde, with its mapping and description, as well as contact information for those responsible for each PB, disclosure of instruments and materials used , dates and locations of public meetings , etc. The website must include: project presentation, news, schedule, library , resource centre and links of interest .
4) A National Meeting on Participatory Budgeting is to be held annually, every time in a different municipality, which promotes this kind of experience. These meetings should contribute to increasing the collective knowledge of the OP in Cape Verde , encourage the sharing of experiences and create bonds of networking between promoting authorities of PB.
5 ) Preparation of a publication on the subject of the Participatory Budget that should contain two parts:
The Santa Cruz project for PB in Capo Verde is the biggest one and the most important experiment in the country due to its size. |

| Year of beginning |
2003 |
| Description |
Urged by local associations already taking care of some urban gardens in Paris, the City of Paris passed in 2003 the “Main Verte” program which promotes the creation by citizens associations of urban community gardens, enabling them with technical assistance, land use rights, and providing know-how.
Other than receiving requests for the creation of new gardens, a Resource Center for Urban Gardeners also assists citizens through the organization of meetings and workshops.
According to the “Convention et charte Main verte”, the gardens are usually set up on the city’s land but they can also grow on other land types. This chart and regulation is to be signed by the City and the association in charge of the garden, which established the rules and the allowed usages of the gardens.
The inhabitants who manage the gardens must commit to keep the gardens open to the community and the public and follow sustainable management methods. |

Growing Farmers’ Income |
| Date |
2017 (design) |
| Description |
Although 70 percent of the produce consumed in Brazil comes from family agriculture, local farmers on the urban fringes of São Paulo struggle to market their produce and make a living. Discouraged, farmers become vulnerable in the face of urban sprawl and sell their land for development. In addition to further reducing productive activities in the suburbs, this process aggravates environmental problems that impact the water supply of 5 million people.
São Paulo will strengthen the local agriculture value chain, promoting sustainable land use and job opportunities by creating a digital farm-to-table exchange platform. The platform will connect local farmers on the far edges of the city to the growing number of restaurants, markets, and institutions in need of locally grown produce. This will allow for inclusive development in the urban fringes and, over time, generate land value through sustainable use and protection of water reservoir areas.
City officials were inspired by the growing demand for local and organic produce and the potential of family-based agriculture on the urban fringes. They were also encouraged by many initiatives undertaken by civil society in fair trade, sustainable consumption, solidarity economics, cooperation networks, and co-creation. |

Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town |
| Date |
2014 |
| Description |
The Fujisawa Sustainable Smart Town (Fujisawa SST) is being developed in Fujisawa City, Kanagawa Prefecture as a joint project between the private and public sectors, which involves, partner companies promoting advanced initiatives, and Fujisawa City itself.
The main feature of this project is that it has built an actual smart town with 1,000 households.
The aim is not simply to develop a town underpinned by advanced technology-based infrastructure, but a town based on actual lifestyles.
Central to the project is the establishment of guidelines for town and community designs. Residents sharing the objectives of the town live, interact and exchange ideas for achieving better lifestyles. The town management company took resident views into consideration, incorporated new services and technologies, and continuously supported the sustainable evolution of the town. Actual lifestyle-based innovative systems will continue to bring energy in every aspect of people’s lives in terms of energy, security, mobility, wellness, community and also in emergencies. Therefore, instead of focusing on infrastructure first, like it is usual in town development projects, Fujisawa SST took as its primary consideration the creation of a concept for a smart community lifestyle based on residential comfort, regional characteristics, and future living patterns. The main features of sustainability in the town plan are public parks, forests, gardens, public squares, community centers, a variety of services and commerces, eco-friendly mobility, and the inclusion of green energy. |
