The project – unanimously approved by resolution 24.1.2011 of the former Rome VI Municipality – envisages the systematization of the immense demoetnoantropological, archaeological, historical, artistic, landscape, urban planning, spiritual heritage stratified in the area called Comprensorio Casilino Ad Duas Lauros and, for historical-social-morphological homogeneity, of the entire Rome V Municipality. The Ecomuseum is not a defined physical space, but (as Hugues de Varine says) is an everywhere fruit of a collective path, which is built by identifying the elements that will be part of it, enhancing and connecting them.” The Ecomuseum, again quoting Varine, is “something that represents what a territory is, and what its inhabitants are, starting with the living culture of the people, their environment, what they have inherited from the past, what they love and what they wish to show to their guests and pass on to their children. The mission is to build a possible model to be declined in the Rome 5 Municipality through the creation of an extended network of citizens and associations, with the aim of creating a real tool that allows the protection, enhancement and development of the territory according to sustainable, equitable, durable, participatory standards.
This collaborative community has initiated a form of management of the shared resource that is environmentally, economically, socially, and culturally sustainable to ensure its enjoyment by the whole community |

Piccolo America – Ex Cinema America |

| Description of the project |
Cinema America, closed for bankruptcy since 1999, was completely abandoned and in ruins for years. In 2002 it was purchased to obtain twenty mini luxury apartments and a garage. But on November 13, 2012, when the Junta Alemanno is about to give the ok to the work, the occupation began. In the following eighteen months, volunteers have redone the roof, gutters, floors, electrical system. A library and a study room were created. Thanks to this support, the occupants pushed the Municipality and the Region to take a step forward: the candidacy of America as an asset of cultural interest. Lots of cultural events were happening there, for instance the San Cosimato arena, with outdoor screenings. Despite all this, the cinema was closed.

| Description of the project |
Thanks to the struggles of the neighbourhood inhabitants organised in committees and the insistent demands of the Pigneto Youth Group, the cinema has become a symbol of democracy and participation. Seized from organised crime, it has been entirely renovated by the City of Rome to offer the city a new cultural space dedicated to cinema and the visual arts and to foster the renewal of cultural offerings in the field of cinema through the promotion of contemporary film productions

Rampa Prenestina |

| Description of the project |
Rampa Prenestina is a Cultural Association of Social Promotion, which since 2013 has set up a social laboratory formed by artists, art educators and therapists.
The complex was built as a warehouse for the Opera House; it partly changed its use in the late 1960s and was adapted as a school. In the 1970s, the upper floors were used as residential accommodation for evicted families. Following occupation, the third floor was assigned to the Rampi Centre, which started using it for cultural purposes.
Currently, the floor is managed by a consortium of resident arts groups, who are taking care of the redevelopment and programming of activities. |

| Description of the project |
MACRO – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea di Roma (Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome) – was born from the reorganization of the Capitoline structures deputed to the promotion of contemporary art.
It is setting itself the objective of creating a “Polo del contemporaneo” in the city of Rome, intended to be a place of cultural production that will foster dialogue between the most interesting organizations operating in the city and in Italy as a whole, as well as promoting interaction and the sharing of experiences with museums, research centres and universities etc. at an international level. |
