| Description of the project | In 2002, during the street parade of the generalised strike, 5000 students, precarious workers and migrants occupied an abandoned building in Tiburtina. The Strike SpA was born, an occupation that set itself the goal of transforming a private, abandoned space into a public space: private property into common property, self-managed. From the outset, we argued that the ‘problem’ raised by the occupation was not simply about the private owner demanding eviction, but about the city as a whole, its new urban planning and the distribution of resources for social and cultural policies. | |
