| Description of the project | Urban gardens are born from a project of the National Institute of Bio Architecture.The green area is fractionated into a hundred lots partly for citizens, others for educational activities. Ortolino is a project aimed at the active and democratic participation of citizens and the promotion of models of environmental sustainability. The creation of urban gardens on Viale del Tintoretto in the Municipality VIII of the Municipality of Rome is the result of a larger project that provides moments of sociability and encounters by indulging the desire for greenery to encourage the integration of elderly or lonely citizens and solidarity between different generations. The project is aimed at active and democratic participation, raising the quality of life of citizenship and promoting models of environmental sustainability. The gardens initiative is non-profit and is intended: 1. to the development of models of self-organization on needs, to combat phenomena of economic hardship through self-production and self-consumption of organic food; 2. to educational and cultural training in which the experience of members can be put at the service of the community, schools and new generations for the development of knowledge in the botanical and agricultural fields by recovering peasant culture and practice; 3. to the promotion of good practices of environmental sustainability; 4. to the preservation of areas otherwise exposed to the risk of building speculation. |
