| Description of the project | Bjala is a multi disciplinary organisation concerned with human settlement challenges, pioneering innovations in urban solutions focused at low income earners, tackling inequality, catalysing job creation and education opportunities.” As part of its action, Bjala has contributed to raise money and build an education ecosystem in the Jeppe neighborhood in central Johannesburg. Their pilot education project is called streetlight school and it is an affordable primary school.
Moreover, following the community demand for the regeneration of Jeppe’s Square Park, Bjala worked with the Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo and the Johannesburg Development Agency to upgrade the park in 2017, involving the community in the redesign. |
