Date | 2010 | |
Description | Zaragoza was struck simultaneously by two problems: the abundance of underused public spaces that triggered anti-social behavior, and an economic crisis that caused high rates of unemployment.
The solution for addressing both problems was to connect them with a shared vision: employ citizens to collaboratively regenerate public spaces. Both people and public space were given new meaning through a socio-spatial regeneration that created lively public spaces that offer the possibility for collective learning and urban sustainable development. The project was envisioned by two architects and embraced by the local municipality of Zaragoza for the long-term development of public spaces in the city. |
