Nudge regulation for water bills
Date | 2014 | |
Description of the project | In January of 2014, the KWSB teamed up with the World Bank’s Water and Sanitation Program to begin a first step in a long-term service improvement project.Karachi’s Water and Sewage Board (KWSB) sent out the first of many client-targeted text messages in an effort to ‘nudge’ people towards paying their long overdue water bills.
This first step of the broader ‘Karachi Water and Sewage Services Improvement Project’ pairs the effects of1low-resource nudge regulations and the already-existing-infrastructure of mobile phone ownership. The use of targeted text messaging to entice clients to pay up appears as a strategic way for the2KWSB to increase their revenue without a significant increase in spending |
